Spiral Knights – Power Surge Weekend

Power Surge is over for July. There was one for August as well.

So I’ve been playing Spiral Knights for a while now since it was released on Steam. Not great, not bad, just a decent online java game. As the game runs on something called ‘mist/crystal energy’ you’re limited to a few hours of in-dungeon game-time (at least on the mist energy counter anyway) so just thought I’d post here that the developers have announced a Power Surge Weekend.

Get energized Spiral Knights, this weekend will be a Power Surge Weekend! Beginning Friday, July 15 at 2pm server time and ending Sunday, July 17 at 9pm server time all elevator costs will be half off!

A Power Surge Weekend is the perfect time to see more of the Clockworks than you ever have before, offering more adventure for your mist. So gather your friends, ready your sword and take the plunge!

In short, elevators cost 10 units of energy at the moment, during this weekend it’ll be 5 units which means you get to play twice the usual amount. Doesn’t apply to crafting energy costs though, that’s a shame really. Just remember that server time is GMT -7 hours.

CCleaner and Steam

Update: Looks like this is fixed in the latest CCleaner version 3.06.

About two weeks ago I ran CCleaner as part of my weekly maintenance, I updated it but failed to read that Steam had been added to the list of programs it can work on. After a few hours, I noticed that webpages viewed through the Steam client weren’t loading properly (stylesheets were missing or broken). I didn’t do anything about this until today when I found a quick-fix for it on Steam forums.

1. Exit Steam
2. Navigate to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\config
3. Delete the “htmlcache” and “overlayhtmlcache” folders
4. Start Steam

I can confirm all is well now. I don’t know if CCleaner has been fixed or if it’s meant to do that but for now I’m just going to delete the cache folders manually.

Now Playing: Team Fortress 2 – Hat Edition

A blog post is long overdue but title is pretty much all I’ve been doing. I’ve played a few other games like 999: 9 Hours, 9 Persons and 9 Doors but mainly I’ve been trying to get at least two hats for all classes in Hat Fortress 2 and I’ve done that. I also used the free key Valve gave out for the festive season but got a normal weapon while my brother got an unusual (life’s not always fair). So now I can look forward to playing Golden Sun: Dark Dawn properly.

I did make a start on the game but so far I’m just playing it bit by bit. I’m at the Tanglewoods and just about to rescue someone (can’t give any names can I?). That’s my plan for the evening. The 999 game was awesome though, played through it more than once to get to the true ending. Other than that, not much really to say on video games, haha. I’ll post again when I something of more value to add.
